  • 18th March - Jewish Music Lecture: 'The Birth of Jewish Choral Music? Salamone Rossi in context'
    'Salamone Rossi (a contemporary of Monteverdi) composed the first set of mixed-voice choral music for use in a liturgical context – an experiment which proved short-lived. This talk puts the composer and his music into the wider context of Renaissance polyphony, examining questions of both musical language and Jewish identity.' Part of the Pat Karet Memorial Lecture Series, North Western Reform Synagogue, Alyth Gardens, 8pm.
